Ottawa will lift the oft-criticized income cap from its Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Program, as announced in this week’s federal budget. Under the current rules, tax credits earned under the program are clawed back if companies earn more than $500,000 per year, and are disqualified if they earn more than $800,000 per year. This year’s budget eliminates the income test, effective this tax year.
