OTTAWA— Nov. 22, 2016—The Canadian Printable Electronics Industry Association (www.cpeia-acei.ca) and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) (www.bdc.ca) have signed a sponsorship agreement that will help startup and growth-stage technology companies in printable, flexible and wearable electronics access the financial tools and support they need to achieve global success.

As Canada’s business development bank, BDC is the only financial institution dedicated to helping entrepreneurs. With almost 2,000 employees and more than 100 business centres across the country, BDC offers loans, consulting services, growth and business transition capital, securitization, as well as venture capital to more than 30,000 small and medium-sized companies.

Through this partnership, BDC has also become a Member of the CPEIA.

Under this partnership, the CPEIA will broker introductions between BDC and CPEIA Members, to educate our Members about the services and financing options available to them through BDC. Representatives of BDC also have the opportunity to take an active and leading role in CPEIA programming activities, as speakers and exhibitors at key CPEIA events such CPES2017 – Canada’s premier conference and trade show exhibition for printable, flexible and wearable electronics.

“Our emerging technology sector is a prime target for BDC services and financing options,” said Peter Kallai, President and CEO of the CPEIA. “By working together and helping growing companies with the resources they need to achieve long-term success, the CPEIA and BDC will create more high-value technology jobs and wealth for Canada. After talking with other financing organizations, we realized that BDC is the only bank that can serve, under one roof, both our technology sector and the seven application sectors in which our Members work.”

“The CPEIA is building a strong and diverse membership that represents the broad spectrum of this emerging industry,” said Wayne Dulmage, Vice President, Financing & Consulting, at BDC. “We see great opportunity through this partnership to strengthen Canada’s knowledge-based economy and help bring world-class technology to market.”
