Christophe Sansregret | C2MI

Christophe Sansregret, process development engineer in printed electronics and advanced packaging at C2MI. Mr. Sansregret joined C2MI in 2020. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Université de Sherbrooke. He is responsible for the development of printed electronics processes at C2MI with a focus on flexible and printed electronics production through additive manufacturing. Mr Sansregret is currently developing processes for the integration of surface mounted electronic components on flexible substrates using copper inks in collaboration mainly with the École des Technologies Supérieurs (ÉTS). Mr Sansregret also actively participates in conferences in the field or printed electronics and ecofriendly electronics in order to stay abreast of the latest developments and to share C2MI’s expertise. He presented at the International Conference for Electronics Hardware Enabling Technologies in 2021.

Alireza Saidi | IRSST

Alireza Saidi is a researcher at the Robert-Sauvé Research Institute in Occupational Health and Safety (IRSST), Montréal, Québec. His research at IRSST focuses on the development of smart personal protective equipment using smart textiles, flexible electronics and advanced materials. Before joining IRSST, he worked for several years as a project manager in industrial research and development groups in fields such as technical textiles, smart textiles and flexible and stretchable electronics. He is the author and co-author of several scientific publications.

Ioannis (John) Kymissis | Columbia University

Ioannis (John) Kymissis is the Kenneth Brayer Professor of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University and Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering. He graduated with his SB, M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees from MIT. His M.Eng. thesis was performed as a co-op at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Lab on organic thin-film transistors, and his Ph.D. was obtained in the Microsystems Technology Lab at MIT, working on field-emission displays. Aher graduation, he spent three years as a postdoc in MIT’s Laboratory for Organic Optics and Electronics, working on a variety of organic electronic devices, and also as a senior engineer for QD Vision (later acquired by Samsung Electronics). He joined the faculty at Columbia University in electrical engineering as an assistant professor in 2006. He is a fellow of the IEEE, Optica, and the Society for Informa9on Display (SID), and is currently the president-elect for SID.

Justine Decaens | CTT Group

Justine Decaens is the Research & Development Manager at CTT Group. She holds a bachelor in textile engineering and a master in Mechanical engineering. She started her career at CTT Group as a project leader specialised in Smart textiles. She has worked on many R&D projects related to the development of heating textiles, lighting textiles and the integration of various textiles sensors such as ECG, respira:on rate for biomonitoring, pressure, temperature, humidity, and so on. She is also Vice-Chair of the ASTM D13.50 commiKee which overlook the standardization of smart textiles. She has worked on the development of several test methods to measure properties such as abrasion resistance of heating textiles, ECG degradation aXer sweat exposure and son on. She has given several presentations and masterclasses on this topic. She is also Vice-Chair of the ASTM D13.50 commiKee which overlook the standardiza:on of smart textiles. 

Antti Kemppainen | VTT

Antti Kemppainen has worked in the field of printed and hybrid electronics and its applications since 2000, as a researcher, project manager and research team leader at VTT Technical Centre of Finland. Currently he is working as Solutions Lead in the field of printed electronics and its applications. He has been actively working with various globally leading printed electronics technology companies as well as end user companies in contract R&D and joint research projects. His research interests are focused mainly in large area sensing and silicon – printed hybrid solutions utilizing roll to roll processing, and application development especially for health sector.

Khasha Ghaffarzadeh | TechBlick

Khasha is the CEO of TechBlick, the home of the global emerging technology innovaBon community including addiBve manufacturing of electronics. Khasha oversees the curaBon of TechBlick’s world-class year-around programme learning, training, and networking agenda for its 1500+ global members. Khasha has spent more than 15 years in the field of printed and addiBve electronics in various capaciBes. During his PhD, Khasha worked with Samsung (SAIT) to produce and characterize state-of-the-art amorphous metal oxide TFTs. His work was published in leading academic journals such as Nature, receiving more than 1000 citaBons. 

Sharmistha Bhadra | McGill University

Sharmistha Bhadra is an assistant professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University. Her current research interests are in the area of printed and flexible hybrid electronics, microelectronics, microelectromechanical systems, and sensors and wearables. She has published over 75 papers and holds 2 patents in these areas. Her research program at McGill University leverages conventional design and development tools as well as printed electronics technology to find cost effective and high performance innovative electronic technology. One of her more concrete short term research goals is to use printed and flexible hybrid electronics technology to develop high performance sensors, wearables and other electronic components. She has organized special sessions and presented tutorials on printed and flexible devices in many conferences such as IEEE Sensors 2020, IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems 2020, IEEE FLEPS 2020, IEEE FLEPS 2021, IEEE sensors 2019. She has given invited talks on low cost sensors and devices in different venues such as IEEE International Flexible Electronics Conference 2019, Vancouver IEEE Electron Devices Chapter Technical Talk, Vancouver IEEE Sensor Chapter Technical Talk, IEEE Newfoundland Labrador Computer, Communication, and Circuits & Systems Joint Societies, RsSMiQ Day 2019.

Julie Ferrigno | e2ip Technologies

Julie Ferrigno, PhD, Eng., is an R&D engineer at e2ip technologies, Montreal, Canada, where she is specialized in the design, conception, and manufacturing of emerging printed electronics products. Over the past few years, she has focused her activities on advanced manufacturing for the very fine line screen printing process and its application in HMI and RF industries. She has a PhD in Electronics (Failure Analysis of Digital Integrated Circuits, 2008) from CNES, Toulouse, France, and an Engineering Degree in Physics (2005) from INSA Toulouse, France.

Mariia Zhuldybina | TRAQC

Mariia is a scientist and innovator with a background in photonics and electrical engineering who is fuelled by creativity, curiosity, exploring new applications, and building solutions towards a livable future. She completed her Bachelor and Master degree in Applied Physics and Mathematics in Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. After, she arrived to Canada and received her PhD in electrical engineering from ÉTS in 2021 under the supervision of the professor François Blanchard and co-supervision of the professor Ricardo Zednik. After, she has worked at Institute for Graphic Communications and Printability as a research assistant and she had co-founded a start-up company TRAQC. TRAQC leverages terahertz science and technology to achieve AI-driven, in-line quality control of electronics printing without interruption. With TRAQC’s technology, printed electronics manufactures can make their work more efficient and lower costs while allowing for greater output volumes with higher quality. This solution was developed during her PhD at ÉTS. Her research focused on the design of resonant photonics structures, called metamaterials, and their application to the quality control of printed electronics using terahertz (THz) radiation. These results have led to two patents by Mariia and her thesis supervisor François Blanchard. Today, she is the institutional researcher at École de Technologie Supérieure and a co-founder & CEO of TRAQC.

Reza Chaji | VueReal

Reza Chaji is the CEO and founder of VueReal Inc. This Waterloo-based company is focused on revolutionary technologies for enhancing electronic systems (displays, sensors, imagers, …) by integrating millions of highly efficient micro/nanodevices into system substrates. He received his Ph.D. degree (2008) in Electrical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada, where he worked on designing and implementing large-area electronic systems for AMOLED displays, biomedical imagers, and bio-array sensors. He has extensive experience developing and designing pixel circuits, driving technology, backplanes and image enhancement algorithms for emissive displays. His work for OLED TVs is adopted in most of the OLED TVs in the market.He has over 70 published papers and one book in the field of display and sensor, over 150 filed/granted patent applications, and received several prestigious scholarships and awards, including the Young Alumni Achievement Medal, Faculty of Engineering, University of Waterloo, 2012; CMC Douglas R. Colton Medal for Research Excellence 2009; and Strategic Microelectronics Council of ITAC Industrial Collaboration Award 2007.

Thibault Lerailler | Punctuate Design

Thibault Lerailler is the founder and CEO of Punctuate Design, a product design and industrial design studio based in Montreal with a focus on the development of more sustainable and circular products. Thibault started working in the design industry in 2012 in Paris, then flew to Hong Kong and New York developing consumer products (pitcher, lamp, kitchen accessory, fan, air purifier, etc..) for major American, Asian and European brands (Philips, Braun, Oxo, Honeywell, Vicks, Pur and many startups). Today Thibault has won several design awards, while continually trying to think about reducing the environmental footprint of his clients through design. In recent years, he has developed a strong expertise with startups in Canada and is also heavily involved with the Association des Designers Industriels du Québec to promote the transition of the industrial designer profession towards more sustainable practices. 

Fernando Zicarelli | Industry Consultant

My experience in Advanced Screen Printing is 32+ years long and very specific to Microelectronic Manufacturing; I have conducted multiple Ink/Paste and Substrate evaluations for PV, Hybrid Thick Films, Compact Disc, 3D Ceramic Components and Printed Electronics applications.  At EPFL PV Lab in Neuchatel, Switzerland; I was the Metallization expert for the development of HIT Solar cells and at Eoplex Technologies in Redwood City, California, I was the Director of Process Development for 3D Ceramic component manufacturing.  I have a great knowledge of most of the deposition methods like Pad Printing, Inkjet, Dispensing, Spraying, Plating and Lithographic processes.

Gerd Grau | York University — Lassonde School of Engineering

Gerd Grau is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at York University and a graduate faculty member in Mechanical Engineering. He received his BA and MEng degrees in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He has extensive experience in microfabrication, especially of printed microelectronic devices such as transistors and sensors. His expertise spans the study of fundamental printing physics, the optimization of material properties through process innovations, and the integration of device process flows. At York University, he has built a lab for printed electronics that focuses on the integration of printed electronics in 3D structures such as 3D printed objects and carbon fiber composites using novel techniques such as printing and laser processing. His research is funded by NSERC, CIHR, Mitacs, York University, and industry collaboration.

John Skabardonis | Covestro

John is responsible for Technical Marketing to the Electronics & Electrical industry in the Americas region. He has worked at Covestro in the US for 30 years, in roles ranging from R&D, to Marketing, Marketing Communications and Technical Marketing. John is fascinated by the rapid evolution of technology and is focused on materials and processes which enable this evolution. He is also intensely interested in social media, as a means of helping make information easily accessible. John received a Ph.D. in Physical/Organic Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University. He is a design advocate & a member of the Industrial Designers Society of America, a Distinguished Toastmaster and a chairholder in the Color Marketing Group.

Peter de Vrieze | SUSS MicroTec

Peter Arnold de Vrieze is a manager for sales and service at SUSS MicroTec Netherlands B.V. with more than a decade of professional experience in international sales and business development of equipment for manufacturing in various sectors. He is specialized with the Inkjet solutions from SUSS MicroTec like the LP50 R&D printers and the JETx production printers. These inkjet printers are valued by many users at Universities, Research institutes and Manufacturers with various applications ranging from Semiconductor, Photovoltaic, Battery, Medical, Optical and AR/VR. Peter has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Fontys University of Applied sciences in Eindhoven.

Tricia Carmichael | University of Windsor

Tricia Breen Carmichael is a Professor at the University of Windsor. Prior to her faculty position, she was a Research Staff Member in organic electronics the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York. She leads an interdisciplinary research program on wearable and printed electronics. She has published influential papers on textile-based wearable electronics, stretchable light-emitting devices, and paper-based printed electronics. Dr. Carmichael is the co-director of the NSERC Green Electronics Network, a national strategic network focused on printing methods for smart packaging. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Flexible and Printed Electronics (Institute of Physics).

William Wong | University of Waterloo

William S. Wong is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Director of the Giga-to-Nanoelectronics Lab at the University of Waterloo. Following ten years as a senior member of research staff at the Palo Alto Research Center (formerly Xerox PARC), he joined the faculty at the University of Waterloo in 2010. He is an author and co-author of more than 100 publications, with 50 invited talks and 85 issued patents in electronic materials growth, processing, and characterization. He is a member of the IEEE, the Materials Research Society, and was on the Editorial Board of IEEE Electron Device Letters from 2011-2020. Wong is also an invited organizer, elected committee member, and Treasurer (2021-2023) of the Electronic Materials Conference. In 2023, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Materials Research Society. 

Charles Philippe Trudeau | INO — National Optics Institute

Charles Trudeau received a B.Sc.H. in Physics from Queen’s University in Kingston, ON, in 2012, where he finished his honours thesis in the field of particle discrimination and dark matter detection. Charles received a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from ETS, Montreal, QC, in 2015 in the field of graphene exfoliation and Raman characterization. He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at ETS, Montreal, QC, in 2021 in the field of printed electronics, specifically his thesis explored inkjet printing of perovskite photovoltaics. He is currently working at INO (Quebec) as a scientific researcher in the field of printed electronics/photonics where he is the technical coordinator for research and development projects in this field. He is author/co- author of 12 peer reviewed publications and 1 patent.

Sylvain Cloutier | ÉTS — École de Technologie Supérieure

Prof. Cloutier received his PhD from Brown University in 2006. There, he studied the optoelectronic properties of nano-engineered materials. As an assistant professor at the University of Delaware, he received the DARPA Young Faculty Award for the use of nano-engineered materials for lasers. He joined the École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) in 2011, where he leads the Canada Research Chair on Printable Hybrid Optoelectronic Materials and Devices (since 2012) and the ArianeGroup Industrial Chair on Emerging Materials for Aerospace and Space (since 2017). His research targets the fabrication and the fundamental understanding of hybrid nano-engineered optoelectronic materials, as well as their integration into low-cost and printable optoelectronic circuitry and devices. He published over 85 journal papers and (co-)supervised over 75 students and research professionals.  In 2014, he was elected member of the College of the Royal Society of Canada. 

Harry Chou | Pulseforge

Harry is an Engineer at PulseForge working on Applications and R&D. His industry experience includes startup and entrepreneurship ventures with novel nanomaterials, as well as in characterization and analysis with semiconductors. Harry has published and reviewed dozens of articles for scientific journals and holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin where he researched synthesis, characterization, and applications of novel nanomaterials.

Ofer Shochet | Copprint

Dr. Ofer Shochet is a serial entrepreneur and a technology visionary specializing in the R&D and successful implementation of future technologies. Ofer is the founder of Copprint and serves as a BOD member at Saccade vision and recently served as a BOD member at Velo3D(NYSE:VLD) seed-> unicorn (2015-21). Ofer served as EVP Products (2009-14), at Stratasys (nasdaq:SSYS), the world leader in 3D printing leading the company’s Products. Prior to Stratasys, Ofer had been the founder in parallel of several companies in multiple fields. One of which, Navajo Systems, a pioneer in SaaS security, was acquired by Salesforce.com. Additional roles: SVP for Verint (nasdaq:VRNT), focusing on speech, text and video analytics;  Founder and EVP of Vigil ; VP R&D at Silicon Graphics Biomedical.Ofer served at the Israeli intelligence corps and was awarded with the prestigious Presidential Israel Security award. Ofer holds a PhD and MSc (Magna cum Laude) in Physics from Tel Aviv University.

Salima Alem | National Research Council Canada

Salima Alem is a senior research officer at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). She received her Ph.D. degree in applied physics from the University of Angers (France). She joined the Organic Materials and Devices team at NRC in 2008 after a two-year postdoctoral position at Queen’s University. Her research is in the area of organic and printed electronics, with an emphasis on organic photovoltaics, where she has been active for nearly two decades. She is currently leading a project for the development of flexible multiple-mechanism energy harvesting systems for remote health condition monitoring and smart homes, as part of the Age-in-Place NRC’s challenge program. 

Jeremy Husic | Inteva

Jeremy Husic has over 25 years working in the auto industry. After graduating from Kettering University with electrical & mechanical engineering degrees, he started at Delphi Automotive. He later moved to in-mold electronics start-ups and finally Inteva Products. His career has taken him from structural analysis to mechatronics to in-mold & embedded electronics. He is credited with four patents with a few more in the works. Jeremy is currently a staff engineer focused on integrating electronics into automotive trim and supporting electronics within Inteva. He is a member of a team that started down the path of Smart Automotive Surfaces a few years ago. Since then, Inteva has developed a strong portfolio of Soft Smart Surface products for automotive trim. 

Mark Duarte | EastPrint

Mark A. Duarte is the Director of Medical Sales at Eastprint Inc., a leader in the design and manufacturing of wearable medical patches and electrodes. Mark has over 20 years of sales and business development management, product design, project/account management in the printed electronics industry for Body Worn Medical and Consumer Patches, Screen-Printed Electrodes and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications. Mark has been the leading influence in Eastprint’s presence for the design and manufacturing of wearable disposable medical patches and electrodes for applications such as diagnostics, monitoring, drug delivery and stimulation. Mark received his education in Advanced Electronics from the United States Navy.

Shawn Mo | Henkel

Holding master’s degree of industry design from Shanghai Jiatong University. Joined Henkel Electronics division in 2006. Working on develop adhesive and ink business. Profound experience in different applications of adhesive and ink in electronics industry. Focused on printed electronics applications including antenna, smart health and smart surface. Leading R&D team in China to develop pad printable conductive ink for 5G antenna and extended to other applications like automotive and semiconductor applications. 

Jesus Zozaya | Voltera

Jesus Zozaya is the CEO and co-founder of Voltera, which is headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. With a degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Jesus worked as Voltera’s Chief Technology Officer between the company’s inception in 2013 until he was named CEO in October 2022. Jesus is a natural problem solver and is passionate about the importance of user experience in product development. He, along with the whole Voltera team, is laser focused on catalyzing innovation by removing the barriers to entry in the additive electronics industry. 

Rolf Meyerhans | NSM Norbert Schläfli AG

Rolf Meyerhans is the CTO of nsm Norbert Schläfli AG. nsm, based in Zofingen, Switzerland is a company which specializes in the developing and manufacturing of high-precision printing and coating systems in the field of Printed Electronics. Rolf joint nsm in 2022. He has over 30 years worked in the development of mechanical components. He gained a long experience in mechanical design, dimensioning, process analysis and structural simulations. He is responsible for the technological strategy and the implementation of customer requirements together with a team of technology experts. 

Steve Breed | Optamec

Steve Breed is an account manager for Optomec with over 25 years of experience in electronics manufacturing.  He is currently working in the field of printed electronics, using additive manufacturing to improve and enable novel manufacturing processes.

Bruno Soares | EDC Export Development Canada

Bruno Soares joined EDC in 2016. As a Senior Relationship Manager in the Montreal Technology Team, he manages a portfolio of 30 Technology companies with annual sales up to CAD 300M. He comes from a banking background with over 15 years of experience, including assistant manager for the Compliance Team at HSBC Bank Canada and assistant manager for a commercial team at Bank Montepio in Portugal, dealing with a targeted clientele of exporting companies in the molding and plastic industries. Bruno is a native of Portugal. He earned his degree in Business Administration in 2005 from ISLA University, Portugal. Later in 2011 he completed two Post Graduation degrees, Management Control & Corporate Finance and Accounting &Tax at ISEG Executive Education in Lisbon.Bruno has built his professional career on the same principles which guide his personal life, relationship building, curiosity, love of constant learning and the energetic pursuit of his goals and meeting new people.

Louis-Martin Deslandes | IRAP Industrial Research Assistance Program

Louis-Martin Deslandes is an Industrial Technology Advisor for the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program since 2014. His responsibilities include assisting small and medium-sized businesses to increase their innovation capacity and take ideas to market. Louis-Martin is a material scientist with expertise in data science and supply-chain management. His industry experience spans across various fields, including transparent conductive oxide for photovoltaics and other printed electronics.

Oliverio Velazquez | MITACS

Oliverio Velazquez is a doctor in Aerospace Engineering and oversees the development of multiple industry projects within Mitacs. Dr. Velazquez obtained his engineering degree in 2011 in France at École des Ponts ParisTech, and his PhD. Degree in 2020 from École de Technologie Supérieure (Montréal). Dr. Velazquez has extensive knowledge in data science and numerical methods that he acquired during his stay at EADS Toulouse (now Airbus group), where he specialized in numerical composites, and during his PhD, where he specialized in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Aircraft Design and Genetic Algorithms, while developing aerodynamic models for the Blended Wing Body configuration.After a brief stay in entrepreneurship, Oliverio turned to the Innovation Ecosystem and now supports Mitacs by arranging the development of innovative research projects with the advanced manufacturing industry by leveraging the power of linking Talent, Research and Industry stakeholders together.
