OTTAWA— Sept. 08, 2016—The Canadian Printable Electronics Industry Association ( has welcomed global diversified technology company 3M and instore merchandising services firm Array Marketing to its growing membership.

3M’s Flexible Circuit Foundry business

3M produces thousands of innovative products for dozens of diverse markets. Its core strength is applying its more than 40 distinct technology platforms – often in combination – to a wide array of customer needs. 3M products have made driving at night easier, made buildings safer, made consumer electronics lighter, less energy-intensive and less harmful to the environment.

Of particular interest to CPEIA’s membership and the PE industry in Canada is 3M’s Flexible Circuit Foundry business – one of the largest of its kind. With more than 25 years of flexible printed circuit development and manufacturing, 3M serves major OEMs in medical devices, inkjet printers, and other markets by providing one-, two- and multi-layer fine pitch flexible circuits.

3M’s Canadian operations include 1,800 people, with headquarters and manufacturing in London, ON and other Ontario plants in Toronto, Brockville, and Perth, in addition to one facility in Morden, MB. Sales offices are located in major cities across the country.

Array Marketing and the evolution of retail

For over 35 years, Array has been delivering innovation in retail merchandising, point-of-purchase displays, open service systems, fixtures and floorstands.

Array’s team starts with exceptional strategy and design. Then, using a variety of materials, its skilled engineers and production staff apply the latest manufacturing technologies and techniques. The results are displays and fixtures that win top industry awards and praise from brand marketers and retailers worldwide. Array has offices in Toronto, New York, China & Mexico.

Retail marketing is a rapidly evolving business where the demand to create interactive and engaging experiences for the consumer never stops.  Introducing new lighting, sensor and wireless communication technologies, at a low cost and with low power consumption is key. These are requirements which PE is uniquely suited to address. Array is actively seeking partners that can help it pioneer new displays and fixtures enabled with PE.

“Since its inception, the CPEIA’s goal has been to build linkages across the entire value chain for printable, flexible and wearable electronics (PE),” said Mark Majewski, President and CEO of the CPEIA. “This mandate is reflected in the addition of 3M and Array – on one end, an industrial conglomerate with extensive investment in new technology R&D and materials development for a host of market verticals, and at the other, a forward-thinking marketing services company that’s using PE to pioneer new ways to help retail brands stand out and engage consumers at the point of sale.”
