OTTAWA— Nov. 22, 2016—The Canadian Printable Electronics Industry Association (www.cpeia-acei.ca) has reached a notable milestone in its evolution – growing its membership to 80 Members.

In only two years since its launch, the CPEIA has made great strides to fulfill its mandate as the united voice of Canada’s printable, flexible and wearables electronics industry.

“Our vision has remained steadfast from the outset,” said Mark Majewski, President and CEO of the CPEIA. “And that is to be the magnet that draws the ecosystem of this emerging sector together. From global companies to Canada’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public organizations, we work with our membership to accelerate innovation, drive end user adoption and establish Canada on the global stage. Only through a coordinated effort can we generate wealth and employment for the Canadian economy.”

Today, the CPEIA membership is a rich mix of industrial companies, post-secondary institutions and public research organizations. They focus on applications in Intelligent Packaging, Intelligent Buildings, Aerospace and Defence, Automotive and Industrial Applications, Health and Wellness, Intelligent Documents, and Consumer Electronics and Wearables.

Two-thirds of our membership is comprised of industrial companies. The other third includes academics, government labs, consultants and finance organizations that support R&D and commercialization activities, such as the National Research Council of Canada and the Business Development Bank of Canada.

Our industrial contingent includes multinationals that lead this sector in manufacturing processes and equipment, technology integration and materials science – names like NovaCentrix, 3M, DuPont, EMD Performance Materials, Henkel and Xerox. Our membership includes large Canadian global players and end-users that are adding our technologies to their products and services. Brands such as Array Marketing, Canadian Bank Note Co., Jones Packaging, CSA Group and GGI International, just to name a few.

These are complemented by a host of rising and well-established SMEs such as Cooledge Lighting, Information Mediary, Group NanoXplore, Memtronik, OM Signal and Myant. As pioneers in their respective areas, they are already in commercial production and looking to expand their market reach globally across the value chain – from specialty materials to end use products and services.

CPEIA also supports promising startups active in new technology, product and service development, such as OTI Lumionics, TUKU, Brilliant Matters, Wibicom and NGTronix Industries, just to name a few.

“Through our outreach, workshops, partnerships with other industry associations and our annual Canadian Printable Electronics Symposium (www.CPES2017.ca), we continue to build the momentum that will drive the growth of this sector in Canada,” added Kallai. “By 2018 we intend to have 120 members, which will guarantee a strong foundation for the future.”
