Third annual event in Montreal, April 21-22, 2015

OTTAWA—November 26 2014—The Canadian Printable Electronics Industry Association (www.cpeia-acei.ca) the united voice of Canada’s Printable Electronics sector, is accepting paper and presentation proposals for the nation’s premier annual industry event.

This marks the first year that the CPEIA will be hosting the Canadian Printable Electronics Symposium. This workshop-style event takes place in Montreal, April 21-22, 2015.

The CPEIA is hosting the Symposium in partnership with the National Research Council of Canada and Quebec’s Printability and Graphic Communications Institute (Institut des communications graphiques et de l’imprimabilité ICI). CMC Microsystems and other stakeholders are also active on the organizing committee.

The Symposium brings together stakeholders in Canada’s Printable Electronics (PE) ecosystem from industry associations, academia, manufacturing, printing and key end-user verticals such as aerospace, automotive and packaging. Its focus is to inform participants about emerging Canadian technologies and end user applications of PE.

“The annual Symposium is the ideal venue for stakeholders from across the industry to network, share ideas and forge the linkages for collaboration and business development that will make Canada a global powerhouse in this exciting emerging sector,” said Mark Majewski, Executive Director of the CPEIA.

Criteria and deadlines

Presentation and paper proposals may be submitted by Canadian and international researchers and industry professionals. The deadline for submission is January 31, 2015.

The selection committee will advise if you have been selected for a presentation by February 28, 2015, to allow you to prepare the paper or presentation. All presentations and papers must be received well before the Symposium, no later than April 10, 2015, to be included for electronic distribution.

All proposals must include a 300-word summary abstract, and the name, affiliation, title, email and telephone number of the proponent.

Canada’s Printable Electronics opportunity

PE combines new materials with cost effective, large area production processes that open up new fields of application. Conventional printing processes, such as screen-printing, flexography, gravure and inkjet, are used to deposit conductive inks onto a variety of flexible substrates, such as plastics, papers and fabrics.

The goal is a whole new world of electronics that are low cost and consume little power. They can be disposable, biodegradable, flexible and even stretchable.

PE lies at the convergence of several industries in which Canada has a strong track record – advanced materials, micro-electronics, information and communications technologies, printing and advanced manufacturing.

About CPEIA

Established in 2014, the Canadian Printable Electronics Industry Association (CPEIA) brings together key Canadian and international players in industry, academia and government to build a strong Canadian PE sector. The Association is the united voice for the sector and implements critical development strategies to facilitate growth through networking, stimulate R&D and investment, build a strong PE supply chain and drive the broad adoption of PE by end customers.
